It's not just a menu item at the Mellow Mushroom lol.
So I know I'm days late on this but I have to give my two cents on king obama's world tour.
What exactly was it? Was it a fact finding mission? A campaign tour? I'm confused. If it was a fact finding mission then why did he go with preconceived notions? If it was a campaign trip then why would he speak in front of thousands of Germans but not visit the troops in Landstuhl?
OK that one really ticked me off. So is it ok to use the troops when cameras are around but when the cameras aren't allowed then it's suddenly not ok to make it seem that they were being used as part of a campaign event? Shut up!
And by the way since the European leg of his tour was funded by his campaign why would he give that famous speech of his in Berlin instead of some where near American bases where Americans, you know those people that he's embarrassed by but that can actually vote for him, would be able to go see him. Of course that doesn't surprise me coming from him. By the way Kaiserslautern would have been an ideal place to give this speech seeing how it has like the largest American military population outside of the US. There is a huge American community there and yet he couldn't take the time to visit that area but he sure made a commotion on the other side of the country.
Someone please remind the man what country he's running for President of.

Two Days to Freedom
Well for two weeks at least. This Friday I take my last final for the summer term. I can't wait, I'm so tired and I feel brain dead from all the studying.
Speaking of which. This is a funny clip about my absolute favorite reporter ever! Courtney Friel John Scott says it all:
And I liked this cartoon:
Someone tell BO he hasn't been elected yet. Like Ms. Merkel I thought it odd that he wanted to speak in front of the Bradenburg Gate. Why? He's running for president here not there. Hmmm... Maybe he should run for president there, they speak more than just English, but he doesn't so that probably wouldn't work out.

US PRESIDENTIAL candidate Barack Obama's plan to make a grandiose gesture to history by speaking at the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin this month seems to have backfired after German Chancellor Angela Merkel sharply criticised the idea, causing a political spat in a country Senator Obama hopes to charm.

It's a Tooth!
So how many grown ups does it take to pull a tooth? Well I was beginning to think that it would either take a whole army or that he would graduate high school with the tooth (his favorite tooth by the way) dangling in his mouth. But after six weeks it was finally taken, by force.
Anyone walking by the house, especially in the last 4 days, must have thought we were surely killing him. I even got gum all over my couch that he would not relinquish because he did not want to open his mouth and give us a chance at getting the tooth. He also admitted through all this that he no longer loved us and that we were making him miserable because we just could not understand that this was his favorite tooth in his whole mouth.
But tonight, in mid-scream, I was able to grab a hold of it and ever so gently pull it out. It was hanging by a thread and he didn't even know it was out until I showed it to him. Which of course, as is the case with this drama king, heightened the hysteria. It was actually quite comical. He screamed and cried about it hurting more than anything in his whole life and I thought for sure he was going to faint when he realized there was a tiny bit of blood in his mouth. Then wii came to the rescue. We gave him a new wii sports game and as suddenly as it started it ended.
Once the hysterics had subsided he even admitted that it didn't hurt a bit lol. So I asked him if that meant that he would let me pull the tooth easier the next time, since now he knows it really doesn't hurt. No, he said said he'd probably scream and cry the same way he did with this one.
And that is why men do not bear children.

How Young Can He Go?
Warning: This is really lame and shallow. But I just got done with a homework assignment that I BS'd my way through cause I had nothing to write about and now I'm feeling brain dead.
I was surfing the Internet and came across some pictures of the New York premiere of The Dark Knight last night. OK how young are Gary Oldman's love interests going to get exactly? He had a girl on his arm (with a ring on her left hand by the way) that looks young enough to be his daughter! Holy Moly guy! I don't think he can trade her in for a younger model, because frankly that would be illegal. This has midlife crisis written all over it lol ;op

Life can Change in a Minute
Shortly after getting to work this morning I get a call from one of my managers asking me to tell our VP and another manager that one of our maintenance guys had fallen 30 feet from the roof. He had massive internal injuries but as of quiting time today he was out of surgery and doing well. Things weren't looking good this morning and it's a great relief that things were looking better. I couldn't help but think of him and his family all day. They woke up this morning and everything was normal, same as every other day and from one minute to the next, actually from one second to the next their lives changed.
Makes me think of this part of the speech that Shepard Smith gave at the University of Mississippi Commencement Ceremony this year:
Speaking of life changing, I was so sad to see the news Saturday morning that Tony Snow had passed away. He always seemed like such a good, decent person and I am really sorry that he is now gone. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
On a happier topic: I must say that whoever thought of those big inflatable water slides is a genius! LOL My friend and her husband rented one over the weekend for a bar-b-q and I swear the grown ups had more fun on that thing than the kids. I woke up Sunday feeling like I'd been hit by a truck but it was so worth it. I think it would be a great investment to buy one. I'd definitely get one of those before a pool anytime.

You Might be a Redneck if....
This is too funny. A couple got married at Waffle House here in Georgia.
The article is so funny and the pictures in the slide show at the bottom are a definite must see!
Personally I would prefer to be married at the Huddle House but to each their own I guess. ;op

American and Proud
So BO puts his foot in his mouth again:
Well I speak foreign languages and I know a lot of Americans that do also and frankly I'm insulted that he would say that he is embarrassed.
I absolutely believe that there needs to be more emphasis on teaching foreign languages in this country. I know it's a major advantage because it's been a major advantage to me. But how can you say it's embarrassing. So if he becomes president is he going to be embarrassed to represent this country overseas? Maybe we should spare him the embarrassment.
And these people are all laughing and agreeing. Yeah because I'm sure that every single person that was laughing is fluent in another language themselves. He's talking about you too! I just love how they agree with everything he says, even when he's says he's embarrassed by them. They'll agree with anything he says I guess.
So with that in mind and his prior comment:
And of course Mrs. Obama's comment:
I think that maybe they should move else where, somewhere that they can be proud to live and proud of the people that live there and run for president there. Why would he want to be president of a place that he is embarrassed of?
As for me, I'm proud to be American, I've always been proud of my country and I'm not embarrassed in the least bit to say that I'm American. I'm not embarrassed to be American in any other country either, whether I know the language or not.

Rules for Following Me and BO is Full of It
I get really annoyed when I lead someone in another car and they drag me down. It take me anywhere between 2 and 2 1/2 hours to get to the beach, when someone slows me down to 3 or more hours it makes me want to scream!
From now on, before we leave I'm laying down the rules for following behind me:
1. Everyone fills up their tanks before we hit the road. I got the worst gas mileage and yet I was the only one that didn't have to stop for gas.
2. When I go through an intersection you should be following just a few feet behind, not 10 car lengths behind, this goes for regular intersections, traffic lights, and when pulling out of a parking lot.
3. When driving behind me keep up with me, don't go under the speed limit, don't complain that I'm going 5 over the speed limit, JUST KEEP UP!
4. If you don't know where you are going take your own set of directions so I don't have to turn around and find you or stop and wait for you when you inevitably fall too far behind...
5. Because if you do fall too far behind I'm not waiting on you. Keep up or you are on your own.
So I came across something Barack Obama said in Raleigh, NC on 6/9/08 : "Such relief that can't wait until the next President takes office. In January, well before the administration seemed to discover ordinary Americans were struggling, I called for a fiscal stimulus plan to get checks in the hands of hard-working families and seniors. Congress passed such a plan and the first checks are now arriving. But since then hundreds of thousands more people have lost their jobs, and so we must do more." But of course he didn't vote on it when it passed the Senate on 2/7/08 (there were better things to do like get himself nominated).
He said this on the Today show on 1/23/08: "People are living from paycheck to paycheck. They're very worried about this economy. They're concerned that George Bush's stimulus package may leave 50 million people behind after already neglecting, I think, a lot of people who are having a tough time on the home foreclosure market, as well as on the job."
The same day on the Early Show:
MR. SMITH: Well, let's talk about your economic stimulus --
SEN. OBAMA: We've got a lot of problems in this country.
MR. SMITH: All right. Let's talk about your economic stimulus plan for a second, though. The president is talking about giving $800 a person, $1,600 a married couple. Yours calls for much less cash than that in the pockets of Americans. How come?
SEN. OBAMA: Well, we were first out of the box in terms of saying that we needed a tax rebate and a supplement to Social Security. And we've got two phases in terms of how that money is released -- an initial phase of $35 billion, a second phase of another $35 billion. And it appears that the economy may be deteriorating more quickly than when we first put out our plan. So we can make adjustments in terms of what the amount of the rebate is. The important principle is to make sure that we get --
(So why exactly is it that your plan called for less?)
Alrighty Then.

We are STILL Paying for Them?
So yesterday I was going to get my Starbucks fix with BFF and on the way out of our nice middle class subdivision this ghetto looking family is coming out of one of the brand new, never been lived in before, houses. I commented to BFF that something didn't look right with that picture and then she told me that they are a Katrina family. WHAT!?!?!?! It's been almost 3 years!!!
This isn't the first Katrina family in our neighborhood. Just a few months after the hurricane another Katrina family moved into a foreclosure just a few houses down the street from this one. That's fine, it was a foreclosure anyway and was sitting there empty. The storm had just passed and people needed a place to stay to get back on their feet. The lease was supposed to be for 6 months but at the end of the time the people didn't want to move and would not answer the doors and tried other tactics till they were finally forced out.
Now 3 YEARS later people have moved into a brand spankin new house, being paid for by vouchers that I help pay for as a tax payer. And I'm left wondering what the heck have they been doing for the last 3 YEARS that they are still getting vouchers for housing and living in my neighborhood in a house that costs more than mine and not paying a dime of their own for it. When is enough enough? When do they start taking responsibility for making their own living and getting their own place with their own funds? This is truly ridiculous.
I went looking online for some information about this because I just could not believe that our government is still paying 3 years later.
This article talks about the looming housing crisis when these people are forced to actually pay for their housing.
And this one I found in the comments section of another article and I thought it was funny. It doesn't have to do with Katrina housing, instead it's about demolishing the projects in NO. The comments are great.

Happy 4th!
I love long weekends. Even if I do have to spend so much time doing homework. Although I must say that I have been very slack and now have to make up for it.
I have to take my hat off to teachers. I went on a field trip with PW's camp yesterday and had to take a nap when I got home. Those kids wore me out but it was a lot of fun.
I caught a bit of FNC this afternoon, putting off having to go out in the melting GA heat. They had Mark Rudov on and I just have to wonder everytime I see that clown why they give him air time. Seriously FNC?
BFF took a really wierd picture tonight of her son in law. He was shooting off fireworks and in the picture there was a bunch of smoke and to the side it took the shape of a big black dog. Very Harry Potter. Spooky!
Now I have to get back to the books, I need to get a bunch done so I can go to the beach with a clear head Sunday. Got to take advantage of it while I can before we get sent to the middle of the country. The Army hates me!
